OUR STORY
About Upper Valley Microfarm
We are an urban homestead located in the desert southwest city of El Paso, TX.
Our story began one fateful day in 2020. After standing in line at a certain wholesale store for eggs only for the eggs to sell out before we reached the front of the line, we decided to take a small step of independence and raise our own flock of backyard egg-laying chickens.
That same year, we put together a raised garden bed and began growing fresh vegetables for our family.
In 2024, our venture grew to include breeding and raising New Zealand and California rabbits. We also began the process of updating our landscaping by removing the xeriscape and plastic weed barrier and planting drought-tolerant, beneficial shrubs and plants with the goal of establishing a permaculture tree guild around our vitex tree.
We may be small, but we aim to have a big impact through responsible and sustainable urban homesteading practices.
